Buying a gold ring

Karat choice changes how a ring wears. 10k contains less gold, so it resists scratching better and holds a sharper edge on textured designs. 18k has the deepest colour but is softer and shows marks sooner. For a ring worn every day, particularly one with detail in the surface, 14k is the usual middle ground.

What is a gold nugget ring?

A ring with a textured, irregular surface made to resemble raw gold nuggets rather than a smooth polished band. Some are solid textured gold, others set a gold coin or a stone into the nugget work. They are most often worn as men's rings and tend to be heavier than a plain band of the same size.

Do you sell men's gold rings?

How do I find my ring size?

The most reliable way is to have a ring you already wear measured. Wrap a strip of paper around the base of the finger for a rough guide, but bear in mind fingers change size with temperature and time of day, so measure when your hands are warm and neutral.

Can a gold ring be resized?

Most plain and lightly set bands can be sized up or down. Rings with stones set all the way around, or with heavy texture across the whole band, are harder and sometimes not worth altering. We have jewelers onsite, so ask about a specific ring and we will tell you what is realistic before you buy.

Do you make custom rings?

What karat gold is best for a ring worn daily?

14k for most people. It holds up to daily wear better than 18k while keeping a warmer colour than 10k. If the ring has fine detail or texture you want to stay crisp, 10k is worth considering.
